I've got some cabomba in my tank and for some reason I thought it would root, but all that happens is that after a while the base rots and it floats round the tank, am I incorrect in thinking it woiuld root and is this normally what happens.

Cheers,

Keith

It will root. When making cuttings, use sharp clean tools and do not crush the stem. Allow the new cutting to float for a few days to give the cut end a chance to heal. Remove any unsound material then carefully plant the cutting.

A cutting made with a finger nail and jammed into the substrate is likely to rot.

Thanks, I'll try taking some cuttings next time I'm in the tank and see how I get on.

Cheers,

Keith
