C02- Bicarb?

the c02 systems like tetra that involve a tablet create gas, which bicarbonate of soda does, doesnt it, could this be a cheap way of using c02?

is bicarb safe for the aquarium??

bicarbonates (HCO3-) are only much use to harder water plants such as vallis.

i have a friend who uses bicarb to reduce ph levels

isnt bicarb an alkali? so how could it reduce PH its the CO2 that does if you have a low KH
