hi as a few of you know im in the market for a pair of apistogramma's.
my question is are fish in your lfs all from the same brood?
i mean if i bought a male and a female of say cacatuoides, are they likely to be brother and sister?

Yes, they will most likely be from the same brood. Best thing to do is buy a male from one shop and the females from another location. Or try eBay and buy from 2 diffrent sellers. :good:

do all tropical fish shops in the same area use the same supplier?
i was thinking of going to westwoods in enfield, and i heard that there are quite a few tropical fish shops there all in the same area, does this mean if i bought a male fish from one shop and a female from a shop half a mile down the road that they are likely to be related to?

That's something I can not tell you. They may be they may not. Buying from 2 different places online will be your best chance.

They always are from maidenhead aquatics, they all coem from the same breeders.

The thing with Maidenhead is they use breeders en masse so their stock is 1000's of fish from 100's of parent fish. So buying 6 from their display not necessarily means they are related, they might be, they might not be.

Well i got told first hand that they were, so unless the manager was lying...
