Buy A Cave (Uk)

Do you suppose if I boil and cool the shell... that while still wet I might be able to cut a door using a knife?  Or is it likely to still be too hard?

It will still be too hard, I tried cutting a door with a jigsaw, just about snapped it!

If you can clamp the shell, you could use a hammer and nail to put holes in it, then knock it out with the hammer.
I imagine that would work ???? :p

I might end up having to try that.  I don't have a clamp but maybe I can find a block of wood or something that will fit to support the shell... I do have those pegs that you can hammer in to create starter holes for screws... maybe those would make holes in the coconut.

Me neither!  But I am always willing to try on things that won't cost me too much heartache or money if it doesn't work out!  LOL

The way I did it was to cut the end off before cutting the coconut in half, this leaves a circular hole at one end. You can then cut the coconut using a straight cut and then carve out the white stuff. Where you make the straight cut then determines the size of the entrance hole
