I am an avid freshwater and salt angler here in Miami, FL, We are lucky to have such an awsome fish in our waterways. I can only dream of one day having a 700 gallon tank and housing one. Here is what the cute little tinny 3-4 inch fry can grow to.

Ah yes, but would you actually eat such a fish caught from our wholesome canal waters? I would think twice, at least in my neck of the woods in Miami! I hear the ones caught from the canals near the local U-picks have a particularly nice flavor. :alien:

Just kidding, I'm sure there's a few waterways that haven't been corrupted by run-off and garbage yet. Great looking fish, and despite what I said previously, it's making me hungry.

Stunning fish!!! I can only hope my peacocks turn out as beautiful and large as that.

i dont know if you have seen a freshwater perch in the UK but that does look quite similar look at the pic.
this is the only decent picture i could get, its off a tv programme called record breaking fish which is good :D

can you see the resemblence?

mmm...so if the egg is the same size of a billiard ball, does that mean the sperm is also big enough to be easily seen by the naked eye too? Like, an inch or so??? Eeeeeeekkk!!
I certainly hope not!!
Hehe... no really, the answer is no. Neither is a whale ovum the size of a billiard ball -- a blue whale ovum weighs only 0.000035 oz!
