Hello,
I recently had a male and female Butterfly Cichlid (or blue ram Papiliochromis ramirezi), but they were killed off by an outbreak of fungus (
I was just looking into my tank, however, and saw many, many little fry, which looked a lot like the Cichlids (at least in the way they swim, I might be wrong).
Now, I have read that this species look after and bring up their fry once they have hatched. It appears that these fry have hatched on their own, and are either wandering around the tank, or hanging around at the surface.
Are they unlikely to survive without their parents?
Thanks )

if you can get a small enough food and they eat it then you'll have no problems.

Infusoria and microworms...baby brineshrimp, hatched from shell less eggs.

The parents keep other fish away from the fry...they don't actually need to be there if there are no other fish in the tank.

Good luck :)
