Silva_Fishy recently bought 2 fw bumblebee gobies with 2 firemouths :/

we just cheked the tank and the one bumble bee has gone missing and no where to be found so i sed it was the firemouths. was it them or did he just buy crappy fish?

You have already asked this question in oddballs, whats the matter dont you trust the opinions of the people who have answered the question there?

All central american cichlids will eat any smaller fish they can catch, mixing tiny bumblebee gobies with firemouths was not a good idea.

oops.......i didnt actually.............and the gobies arnt that tiny and the firemouths are tiny.

yeah and i also said they are brackish not fresh. they probably curled up in some ornament and died :X

Do what, even full grown adult bumblebee gobies are tiny, they only have a 1 1/2" maximum adult size, if your firemouths are smaller than that then the shop you bought them from needs closing down as they are selling fry!

Yeah, I had 3 inch firemouths that chased down guppies about a third of their size, If they are only an inch or so then that store shouldn't be selling them. Bumble bee gobies are normally tiny so they would probably be getting sold at a half an inch or an inch, which would make a yummy meal for two young energetic firemouths :)

well the 2 bumblebees are actualy alive..........i just couldnt see them well. and theyre born raised and sold in fw tanks. and they seem perfectly fine "hoping" around the tank

beav have you done any reading on bumble bee gobies. Not FW they are brackish and should not be kept in fw

from "the concise encyclopedia of popular tropical fish"

"bumblebees do not take kindly to water that lacks a certain ammount of salt, and, although the exact quantity can vary, it's prsence appears essential for the long-term well being of these strikingly marked little gobies"

no offense but i thought most people new that

i had bumblebees in a tank for a year and they survivied fine. i had to give them away cuz i decided to get oddballs.
