my boyfriend has a 3 gallon tank with a bumble bee goby and a sparkling gourami. it is a new tank - about 3 weeks. but he took a bunch of gravel and water from my established tank.
the goby has bright bright red gills that i just noticed. i was looking at the fish earlier today and didnt notice it. he has not noticed the red gills before, but he is also partially color blind.
the goby seems to be near the surface more than usual, but it may just be the fuss we are making.
the sparkling gourami has no noticeable symptoms.
the tank is currently being treated for ick with coppersafe (for about 1 week.)
do you guys think it is ammonia or a bacterial infection or something else? we dont have a test kit here. we are performing a 30% water change. if his condition doesnt improve we will take a trip to petco tonight or tomorrow morning. i need advice as to what you think it is, treatment, and medications asap.
thanks!
