My lady friend has a 65 litre freshwater tank and really wants bumble bee gobies (it's what she bought the tank for).

Does she have to convert the tank to a brackish tank or will BBG's survive in freshwater? (I've heard they can)

Will the freshwater fish currently in her tank die if salt is added to the tank? ...even if a small amount is added?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was recently reading an interview with Naomi Deventhal - a PhD student at the University of Winnipeg, Canda who is regarded as a fair authority on Gobies (she is currently help sort out the genus Callogobius).

She has found that BBG keep equally well in fresh or brackish water.

This was qualified by stating it was for by far the most commonly traded species (Brachygobius doriae) though identification of BBG without counting rays and scales is somewhat of a fine art.
