Hi,

I did have 4 platies in my tank. ( 1 sunset male, 1 sunset female & 2 red females) The Sunset female died suddenly. All other fish are fine. However now my male sunset is starting to chasing and ambush the 2 other females. He was always with the sunset female.

Do you think me is mourning the loss of his "partner" by taking it out on the other 2?

Should I get another female sunset to replace ?

first we need to find out if we can how the other died. what are you water stats? tank size? tank stocking? did you notice any visible signs of disease?

the male might just be trying to mate with the other two

I have platys, and when they are feeling frisky, they are definatley quite bullyish. Mine chases all of the females and even tries to get it on with my female gourami! All you can do if there no obvious signs of disease ect, is get a few more female so he will stop turning his attention to one individual and it gives the females more chance to settle. Grj :good:

Thanks for your posts,

There are no signs of disease or anything else wrong with the other fish. However he seems to have calmed down this evening so maybe he has had his wicked way:)
