I bought a bulldog pleco about 5 weeks ago and its quite young but never eats anything I put in the tank. Last night for instance I put cucumber in and this morning it was still there. It does a great job of clearing the algae but I'm scared as there is no algae left for him to eat now? Please help!

Perhaps you could cut the tablet in different pieces. You put half in the front of the tank and the other 1 in the back

feed at night when the lights are off and the barbs are asleep

i've also got 3 bulldogs, i've not once seen them eat in the 2 months i've had them and my snails keep the glass spotless so no idea what they do eat to be honest. Probably all drop dead one night.

Your lucky, I never even see mine. The only time I do is at night when the whole room is in complete darkness and I turn the room light on. Then he flies off.

The bit about feeding advice is in the second to last paragraph, regarding the "painting" of flat rocks with crushed food mixed with egg white, which is referred to at the Planetcatfish link I gave "Tizer" several weeks ago. ;)

Dunkai, do you know which species you have?

Can you upload us a photo?

What tank setup (temperature, water hardness, pH, powerheads and filters) are you keeping your Bulldog in?

I have no idea what species I have but its pretty small and got black specles. I really am worried he doest die as he just eats algae but is doing a great job. I got a standard juewel rio 125 internal filter with one powehead. If i do download a video you will never see him as he hides most of the time.

When I had 2 Bulldogs I never saw them eat either. But they did keep the glass clean

I have seen in a book (can't quite remember exact source) that suggested making a paste of Spirulina, mashed vegetables and gelatine and then coating a rock with that.

I've heard these fish are difficult to get eating, mine however is consantly eating right in front. As said try feeding at night.

I have another pleco that i have never seen eat but she must have been as on the rare occasions she does come out (on the glass the other night so got a good look at her) she has a nice fat stomach
