My plants are due to arrive tomorrow for my 300 litre tank but I have just had a thought concerning my substrate. It will have a pressurised CO2 system.

I have a 2cm thick layer of JBL plant substrate and then a 1 cm layer of coral sand and then 5 cm of fine washed gravel. I added the coral sand as I thought it would help buffer the water but now suspect it will mess up the water chemistry.

I have a chance tonight to try and remove the layer of coral sand beofre planting tomorrow. Have I made a mistake by adding the coral sand and am I best get as much of it out as possible tonight?

Plants like an acidic PH to grow in, so the coral sand won`t help there,
also coral sand is made up of ALOT of calcium wich reacts with co2 and neutralises it,

if i were you i`d take it out tonight
