is it possible to over do it with bubbles in a tank, i dont mean from an asthetic point i mean for the fish

Well i would imagine if its bubbling the whole tank then it would have a negative effect on the fish, however there are plenty of members here that I'm sure will have a scientific explanation either way :)

Yeah I would suspect it is possible to overdo it in some circumstances, but you'd really have to go some!

If you have fish like bettas which can't cope with fast moving water then they would struggle if the water turbulence was too great.

For fish which aren't sensitive to water movement you'd probably have to have the whole floor of the tank covered with airstones for it to become a problem.

I have a near 1000ltr tank, I use an airpump that pushes 4000ltrs/hour, (although some I jet off into a hospital tank also) in small tanks, this would pretty much throw the fish out of the tank, as well as most of the water. But this is obviously extreme, and I doubt you need worry to be fair.

Some people will say fish hate bubbles, whereas others, like myself think the fish actually enjoy them. I have mixed cichlids and oddballs, and they love playing in the bubbles.

Here is a vid of my tank.

As long as there is some sttling places (where a current aint fast) then i wouldnt worry, just make sure there is some places that are calm for the fish to settle during lights out hours.
