Should all tanks have bubbles in them? I have a bubble wall in one of my of tanks and not the other two, is this ok?

you dont need aeration in tanks normally at all, so they will be fine :)

It all depends on the number of fish, the more aeration u have the more fish u can suport, and it also makes the filter work better having extra aeration.

t bubble walls do very little to aid aeration, therefore making them ornamental rather than functional. Gas exchange is much better achieved through surface agitation from a powerhead or filter pointing towards teh surface.

No It's more to do with the size of the bubble's and the depth of water, a very fine air stone can produce a massive surface area from the bubbles thus resulting in loads of diffused O2.

And don't bubbles cause surface agitation as well?

But i know what u mean if ur thinking of bubble ornaments, these are just pointless in view's of aeration.

Not so much size as time. The bubbles just aren't in the water long enough to have any appreciable diffusion.

While they do cause some surface agitation, it is very minimal. I have compared the difference between filter outlets and bubble walls for surface agitation and there really is no competition.

Yes time dose have a factor and so dose the temp. Their are many factors affecting the results. How ever the finer the bubble the better the diffusion. And with the smaller the bubble the longer their in the water column as well.

I'm still a i only use bubble aeration in all my systems and they work great for myself.

I find that, depending on the species of fish kept, bubble walls are just cool. I have one in my 55 and the guppies and tiger barbs spend a lot of time playing in it. I think they like the activity.

Other than that....honestly, I get more surface agitation out of my powerhead than I do the wall, but they both do help keep it moving....which is good. :)
