I can't stop my skimmer producing bubbles when it returns the water to the tank. I've fiddled and fiddled for two months now, tweaking the 'ingenious' (that's what the leaflet said!) plastic gadget every which way its physically possible to do and still the £$%^^&$%& thing chucks out bubbles. The lfs has the same model and not a bubble in sight. What on earth am i doing wrong? Can anyone help, its driving me crazy?

Thank you!

i have the same problem, no ive seen people put like a sponge or something close to that on the output so that the water would have to go through it (sorry about the poor explaination) will this stop the bubbles?

Yeah I read that somewhere, but when I tried it, the water just backed up and then spurted out the top of the skimmer, gushed down the back of the tank and tripped the electrics!!!!

Not my finest hour.......

I obviously misunderstood what was to be done (I put the sponge in the tube  didn't seem such a silly idea at the time) Where are you supposed to put the sponge?

maybe try getting a bubble stop from a v2 skimmer which is just a plastic vented cup that sits on the side of the tank and the outlet from the skimmer feeds directly into it stopping bubbles, may be worth a try, as its made for a skimmer it shouldnt back up the outlet on the skimmer.

my skimmer is different output then that, mine is close to like a water fall, no tube, maybe thats the difference

Just for the record, I found this online just now

After 2 months my water should be mature enought but I'll try the vaseline option

Thanks for your replies

Just for the record, the vaseline didn't work! Does anyone have any ideas?

Maybe the skimmer cup idea might work for you (think I'll give it a try too).

Bummer mate.... I've got my MCE300 going straight into the top of the Juwel internal filter - no bubbles whatsoever. If this was not the case, it would produce loads of bubbles!

Sorry I'm not really helping, guess you need something to dampen the fall to the water surface
