Right, I hate my air line with the air stone on it as it rises to the surface and the noise drives me mad, I always forget to get suction cups when I am out-perhaps one day I will remember.

Anyway what I wanted to enquire about was those ornaments like clams that you attach your air line to, are they as good as just having an air stone??

I know the air stone is to get oxygen in the water and wondered if one bubble every so often is as good???

Cheers peeps.

Not as much surface area, So exchange rates would be less...

place some gravel over it untill it holds it down would be good work for me,when i had one

Thanks, I do weigh it down but it always makes its way back up!
Wont bother with a fancy ornament then, WILL remember suction cup thingys.

Thankyou.

You could always pull it out.

Adequate surface agitation is more effectively achieved by having a powerhead or filter outlet pointed towards the surface of the water.

Most air curtains do not make a huge difference in dissolved oxygen levels so you can remove them if you do not want them in there. If you do like them then another possibility to weight them down is to attach lead weights used for plants to them.

I have a diver's helmet which fits over my airstone. I'm not sure if it was made for that purpose. but it hides it. It was bought for me as a present from a garden centre. :)
