nice one! i havent seen my boys make one in ages. lazy bettas. its always fun to wke up and find a bubblenest.

As if!!! I have just noticed a small one of them in my tank... I was gonaa pop them. What are they??

Bettas make them when their happy and comfortable with their surroundings.
They blow out air they suck in i think lol, they also do it to put the babies they make in, well that would be if you had 2 bettas they could put the eggs in it, but if not they just do it anyway.

Your betta may well get rather moody if you destroy all his hard work that went into building his bubble nest, Radish builds them and is working on one now so does the captain but the 2 new boys havn't made one yet, Djin (aka nessi) is a bit young i think and Brom is still getting used to having a 6 gal all to himself lol.

Calcifer did make some in the little 3g, but hasnt since his 10g upgrade. I think he is too busy following and nudging frogs and stealing their food!

just to clarify.
while bubblenests can indicate a certain degree of happiness, not all bettas make them. even if well kept. it is a breeding instinct, something for them to do when they feel the "urge". breaking them up by doing water changes, etc., will not make them upset or sulky...they will happily build you another one if they have the urge to do so. younger bettas (ime) seem to do it more than an "old man" who oculdnt be bothered.
so if you are uncertain that your fish is happy because he hasnt built a nest, or you "destroyed" his nest, dont be. some do it all the time, some a few times, some irregulary and some not at all. just so y'all are informed.
cheers!
