I have a 24" bubble wand in the back of a 55 gal. tank. I leave this running all the time. Is is neccessary or too much? Should I put it on a timer? In the colder months I know it probably must cool the water down, making the heater work harder.
Opinions?

Thanks

It makes no different and if u have it you may as well use it, if it was out door's and the water froze over then you would need to turn off but your not so ur fine

I have one that runs along the whole back of my 55 gallon. I leave mine running all the time. I have two Columbian sharks in mine that require high amounts of oxygen and they love a current which I also have a powerhead running through the bubbles. With your set up it really depends on the type of fish you have in there. The bubble wand will cause a small current at least at the top of the water and it depends if your fish and if they like really calm water. :good:

also stopping it will allow algae to get in quicker and block the holes
