Is there a way to get a male to make a nest.

I have only had my male build one. He bred with the female but ate all of the eggs.

Is there a cheat way to convince him to create a nest?

I don't think there is a way to make him......if only lol. But maybe put different floating things in for him like.....a small square of bubblewrap, half a styrofoam cup, floating frogbit or water lettuce. It may help but no guarantee. Some people will spoon some bubbles from another males nest and put it in the spawning tank and I've heard that works. But if he's dead set against it then there's no much you can do. Some males won't make the nest till the female is released, but they don't need a huge nest for spawning to be successful. One of my males had a tiny nest but we still had plenty of fry hatch that were clinging onto the flat piece of poly we had in there.

Good luck with him :good: :good:

Good luck :good: Just a thought......have you another female to try and see if he just doesn't like her lol lol worth a shot maybe!!!

with every single betta I have and my sisters has and had in the past they all blew little to none nest at all unless we use betta spa or indian almond leaf, we also have rather hard water so I believe it has something to do with the hardness and dificulty in making bubble that stay and dont pop.

try putting the female in a tank or jar for a few days on the outside of the tank so he can still see her, do this after he has been fed 3 times a day on live food for 5 days and then place her there, she wouldve had the food 3 times a day in a different tank as well, she will be fine once in the jar and wont get stressed if it isnt too small, the bigger the better, ive found that this technique makes one of my males build, if he is in the tank with a female in the floater he wont build at all. i then acclimatize the female with the water from his tank whilst she is till in the jar and release her directly into the tank and with her in the tank swimming freely he continues to build.

Thanks for the help. I have got two females so i will have to see which one he likes best.

I will try putting her in a jar outside. Thanks again
