Bubble Nesting

Hi all,

just wondering.....my new betta has been building bubble nests like crazy now. His bowl got really dirty quick, like oily slimy type. Is this from the bubble nesting? Just wondering if this is normal.

The bubbels is as far as i can remember, is formed by mixing air with an oil gland at the back of the mouth.

This would explain the film, but it could of gone stagnant which would be more like it, do u have any filtration?

no, I have my betta in a 1 gallon bowl

if he keeps this up, I'll just have to change the water more often I guess

Yes something that size can be polluated very easily, so think of doing 2 water changes a week.
