Heya,
Is this a bubble nest?
fishy008b.jpg

I've only had my male betta for about a week and i didn't ever think of breeding from him. Does anyone think i should? Or is it a lot of effort? I heard you can't keep males with females and then the male with the babies... does that mean i need 3 tanks? Can the female live with my 2 other platties? can bettas live properly without filters or do i need 3 filters too?
hehe sorry, got lots of questions and you guys seem the most knowledgable!!
Thanks

yep thats a bubble nest, but they don't only make them for breeding they make them when there happy too, so i guess you have a happy lil guy there :good:

breeding takes a lot of effort and reading in advance, so if you are interestted in breeding which i wouldn't recommend at the moment be sure to read, read, read

Aww bless him. I bought him a new plant yesterday, that must have made him happy. Should i remove the nest, or is it ok to be left in with him?

If i did have enough time to research and then try to breed, could a female stay with other fish?

that depends, females can live with other fish but it depends on what kind.
 B-) B-) B-) B-)

taking care of the babies is ALOT of hardwork. eventually, all males will need an individual tank and they usually require live food. once they breed, remove the female then when they hatch remove the male

there platties will a female betta live with platties? (theres only two)live food ? like brine shrimp? thanks for all the help so far :D thanks!

Its all totally normal hun so no need to worry.

yes a female will go with platies but she will boss them about a bit, also just make sure that they don't nip at her.

What others have said a bout breeding is right, i wouldn't recomend it until you have really researched it

with platies, just watch out for over feeding because platies reproduce like rabbits   . And the bettas will go crazy for them.

Im also getting some platys with my male betta in a 10G tank

The platties are both girls.

If you're thinking about putting platties with a male betta then make sure you have another home for him just in case. My male betta was with platties in the LFS and wasn't bothered by them but he attacked my female ones at home!

:)
