I bought a piece of mopani from the LFS, soaked it in cold dechlorinated tap water for a couple of weeks and then put into tank...an algal growth has developed over the bare sections of wood, and on the underside I found this slimy-feeling bubble mat...any need to worry? Its been in the tank about a week; the tank is undergoing fishless cycling, temp of water 30C, pH 8, variable NH£ 0-2; NO2 1-4; NO3 40+
Is there a good way to treat the wood to remove whatever it is? Give it the kettle treatment perhaps?
