I am fighting a black brush algae problem. Has anyone tried treating it with Flourish? I was reading that the Flourish Excel will kill it.
Is there a difference between regular Flourish and Flourish Excel??

Any advice appreciated!

Flourish is a trace fertiliser. Excel is a carbon source which also helps turn iron into a more useble form for plants.

The killing of algae is an unintended side effect that has been discovered by planted folks and therefore is now widely used for this purpose. The manufacturers never intended it to be an algaecide but what works works.

Doesn't cure the root cause though of why you are getting BBA and therefore will come back again. CO2 needs to be sorted out or lighting reduced to cure the problem.

If you are UK then EasyCarbo from Aquaessentials is the same product by a different manufacturer for half the price.
