hi

my tank water is very brown, i know this is caused as i didnt soak the bog wood long enough but:

will the fish be ok
how should i get rid of the brown ie how many water changes a week (not gravel just water)

Thanks

its just tanine, and they should be fine. It makes it like a blackwater set up.

Depends on the fish, actually. Lots of tannins in the water lowers the pH, so if your fish are very pH sensitive, and need a neutral or higher pH, the tannin in the water could present a problem.

I put some wood in my tank today for the first time. I soaked it for a week in a bucket. Not much tanin came out of it , the water was just a bit brown. The instructions said to just rinse it. But I know better because I read this forum! :) I didn't boil it, I just soaked.
