Brown Java Moss

Does brown java moss mean dead java moss? I found some ridiculously cheap java moss at Petco, and I needed plants, so I gave it a try. It was bundled up, so they moss on the outside is green, but the moss on hte inside is brown. I spread it out on a piece of slate. The sides are green and center brown. Is this moss junk, or will the moss grow fine still? Thanks

give it plenty of light and im sure it will be fine ive had moss do the same and seems 2 have recouped after a while

In my experience java moss from traders always does this. It tends to come from plant farms where it is grown emersed, once it is immersed in water it dies back before regrowing once again.
