I have a horrible brown rusty type algae appearing in the tank, i have no bog wood in the tank, all i have is artifical plants, i have just started to only leave the light on for four hours in the evening and I have reduced the feed down.
Any more tips would be a great help,
I have done a 30% water change recently, but the algae has reappeared.

Forgot to mention, its a tropical tank, not freshwater.

Sounds like Diatom Algea to me... It's farily common in a new tank, as silicates leach from the silicone in the new seals, into the water. It will die off after a month or two with normal waterchanges :good: There are resins that you can use to remove this stuff, but they aren't usualy advisable in freshwater tanks...

All the best
