Brown Fur Taking Over My Tank.

I have over the last few months got more and more brown fur growing on every thing in my tank appart from the fish ,has anybody got any ideas how to get rid of it?

Need some info man. ie tank size, stock level, lighting, ph NO3 PO4, plant stock etc etc
how long have you got your tank?

alternatively have a look at this algae in aquarium

Hi thanks for the reply.
The tank is 3 foot with 2, 18 watt flourescent lamps ,1 is an Arcadia original tropical tube described as for plant growth the other is blue moon light set for 14 hours a day.
I have borrowed a ph tester it reads 5.5ph i have no way of testing the No3 or Po4,there are 31 fish in the tank ranging from a couple of 2 inch fish down to Neon sized fish.
A quarter of the tank has a Java fern in it +5 smaller plants.
I have had the tank for 10 years, it was about 2 years ago when it had a complete clean out.
I hope you can make some sense out of all of this.
