Is the glosso particularly established at this point, if not i would pull it out and soak it in a 19:1 water bleach solution till it turns white, wash very thoroughly, remove most traces of the algae, replant and allow it to propogate itself, hassle but very effective.

I would if it was glossostigma, alas it is Hemiantius Calitriodes, and the fact its not just the HC that it's effecting, it appears to be waterbound and then tangling on plants rather than growing on them.

Erm, what stocking do you have, just wondering if mollys will pick it off if your current stocking was suitable.

currently I have 12 amber tetra, 7 oto and 20+ cherry shrimp.

Too true, i am suprised the shrimp have not removed it. How about a blackout ?

Could do, I've a feeling this could only exacerbate things though, I've hair grass as a carpet in this tank and the last 2 black outs did nothing but knock it sideways.
Could be a lack of co2?
