Brown Algae

i have brown algae and lots of it. It just hit last night and now the whole tank is covered in it. I know that plecs and stuff eat it, im hoping to get chooks bristlenosies on the w/e, but what casues it? too much light. too much food

Brown algae=not enough light....green algae=too much light

The babies will have a good home in youe tanks

Over feeding and new tanks can also get this.

I had this when my cichlid tank was approx 2 months old. I left the lights off for a week and it completely cleared up. I've not had the problem since and this was approx 10 months ago, I think new/newish tanks are prone to it.

P.S I do not use live plants, if you do have live plants they may well die so please bear this in mind
