Brown Algae Problem

My tank seems to be getting a lot of brown algae lately, it is particuarly noticable on my gravel because its yellow. I have a few live plants and my the light is on around 10 hours a day, should I be concerned by this? And if so what can I do to reduce it other than putting in algae eaters.

brown algae AKA diatoms are caused by lack of light.
I'd increase the light to 12hrs (in half hour increments).

Putting in algae eating fish helps the result of algae growth but doesn't cure the problem. Read this:
