I keep getting brown algae forming on some of the glass, the gravel, the rocks and the silk plants, pretty much everywhere really!
This leads to me giving the tank a complete clean every week. But it just keeps coming back. I increased the lighting hours to 12 a day, but this doesn't seem to have made much difference.
All water stats are good and the water is crystal clear.
Any help would be fantastic. Thanks in advance.

How long has the tank been set up?

How big is the tank?

What's in the tank?

How much light do you have?

What are the water stats?

consider getting a timer and putting a 2 hour dark period in the middle of the day. I had tons of brown algae but it cleared up pretty well once I did this. Just a thought

Buy a couple of BN plecos, mine cleaned all my brown algae out in a couple of days, and you get the added bonus of some fish :) Also if you have a small tank like me they don't grow very big.

i was told to up the lighting and i now do it from 9 am to 12 midnight. the algae seems to be deplenishig for me. but i also have pleco, ghost shrimp, otto, platies etc that eat the algae so i don't know if this works. i will try the 2 hr total darkness to clear it out. my tanks are like 3 months old so... i have a new tank still
