:D Hi all you catfish lovers. Yesterday i brought 3 baby BC's at my local lfs soo they could keep my lonely female company she did have a boyfriend but he died so i thought ' Poor Baby' and brought her a new female friend and 2 males to keep them company!! I also brought some honey sand for them to dig around in and they litrally bury themselves its soooooooo cute  Dont you think they are just the cutest corydoras going!!!

Yes im a cory addict too. I owned peppers, pygmies(have to be the cutest due to their dwarf size) which I've gottem both species to breed and I once bought these cory looking catfish because they said they were emeralds but turns out they're not even a cory but a hog nosed catfish. Meh looks the same, acts the same. Still adorable in my mind, lol.

Hi Sandamarly :)

I have lots of corys, but the bronze were my first and are still my favorite.

I started changing all my tanks over to sand recently, and they do love it. I wish I knew how much of a difference it would make. If I did, I would surely have done it a lot sooner.

Hi snowyangel :)

Your hog nosed catfish is a Brochis multiradiatus, which is similar to the more commonly found emerald cory or Brochis splendens. Here is the hog nosed:

And, here's the splendins:

Both of them are somewhat larger than corydoras species, but I have never heard of anyone having problems keeping them together.

Has this been your experience too?

Yes they do grow larger which was what attracted me to them(and why they're robust enough for my dwarf cichlid tank). There was only 3 left in the tank so i decided to add them to my previous 4 cory school. I haven't seen them sold again though. They got along famousily with the cories, but didnt school too much with them. They love swimming in the air stone current and i find they're barbels must be more sensitive to scents because they found food 3x faster than my pepper cories. I especially loved they're beautiful tails, somewhat extended and comes to a point, looks like a crescent moon by the way it curves in. They're colour is so glittery. Really beautiful fish.
They look more similar to your splendins link. Here's my pics of 2 of them, just to be sure:
These two are constantly in love, always dancing with their barbels touching, but it's not the "t" position. They do this dance every night when i turn off the lights :hey:

Hi snowyangel :)

Yes, your brochis are very attractive fish. The only ones I see at the lfs always look shabby from shipping. I like them a lot. :D

I sure wish I had room to buy all the fish I would like to! ;)

You and me both Inch. Actually I have a spare 5 gallon, guess i should fill that up with something  . I never thought i would have an empty tank sitting around. Well actually im gonna have spare 20 gallon too. Guess i better start making a fish list up. I'm going shopping! :D
