So I finally managed to shuffle everything around. My girls are in the community tank and have blended well with everyone, so I fnally have space to set up the 12 gallon tank I got for £1 at a car boot sale :hyper:

I bought a few new plants, plus added the ones from his original 5 gallon, plus some cuttings from the 30 gal. It'll be a really nice jungle once everythings grown in. I may add an extra light to the back of the hood...:good:

Transferred all his original water and topped off with dechlor'ed tap water with a pint of IAL water also.

I also bought him a coconut cave ^^

He LOVES it. He's been zooming in and out of plants, flaring at himself and popping in his cave occasionally. And he's so greedy! He's already been picking bits off his moss balls and chasing plant fragments hoping they're edible

PICS!

Looks nice, I bet he's loving it! I really want another betta :/

but you need to remove that polystyrene from under the base or it may crack, the tank has a floating base so doesn't need polystyrene underneath.

No the base isn't a floater. It's just trim on the front :good: The bottom is transparent and sits flat . It's an older style of tank.

It's a pity he such a violent chap as the tank is big enough for some tankmates and I'd have liked some endlers in there with him. But he'd kill them straight out

Ah well, he's happy as a mad sandbag by himself all the same

WOW! Nice. :hyper:

Bad Bronson! *taps his.... pointy nose?* At Big Al's on Saturday, my sister and I saw some chocolate gouramis and were cooing over their pointy noses. ^_^ How 'bout some cories? Or just take him out and stick him in a jar for a day or so, stick the endlers in, put him back in and see what he does. :sly:

Orr.... Maybe that's too evil. XD

Very nice setup :good: I am sure Bronson is very excited to be in that great new upgraded tank :hyper:

I tried it a while ago but it didn't work . I removed him to a container in another tank for a couple of days, added a few endlers ( I have 4 in the big tank ) and put him back in after a little re-arranging, but he went beserk and chased them so I got them out of there at once. They're quick little things and I think they were lucky to outswim him. A slower cory wouldn't last 2 minutes with him. He's killed shrimp before and so can't even have those.

One option left to me is a snail, he'd just bounce off the shell I reckon

He's a psychopath!

£1?? Wow, looks lovely! :)

Im sure bronson is really happy!

Yes £1 :hyper: It was full of dust and bits of leaf, clearly been in a garage or loft for some time, but it cleaned up fantastically and there's not a mark on it I was so pleased. It's been sitting down the side of my bed for months until now.

I now have a total of 6 spare tanks that I am not allowed to use  . One 12 gallon, 3 x 5 gallons and 2 x 3 gallons - ( those two will be shrimp tanks in the future )

the tank looks great :hyper: i especially like the black sand. it really brings out the colors of the betta and plants.
give some snails a go. ive got a complete nut-job myself. i wouldnt DARE put any tankmtes in with him. but he does have some snails (apple and MTS). he flares away at them all day(or the plants, or the bubbles from the sponge filter-really just a loon). he will flare at the snails and very very occasionally knock them off the sides of the tank with his nose, but ive not seen any sort of injury to the snails (and i watch them sometimes more than the fish) i think it would be worth a shot and would add some more life to such a nice tank. and MTS are great in a sandy tank. do a really nice job of keeping it turned and tidy.
thanks for sharing
CHEERS!

Ah! He does have some MTS and small pest snails in there, which he ignores, I was thinking of trying a nerite snail for a change. I've had apple snails in the past and they're nice, but I've never had nerites before.

EDIT - OMG! I just looked in there and he's built THREE bubblenests! :hyper: Good grief! He's made nests before but not very frequently and now three! One is around the filter wire, one is in the riccia, and there's a great long one along the front of the tank! :hyper:

He has, the one in the riccia is his favourite. He's made it bigger and has been Patrolling the area - fins out, shouting and flaring at his reflection and being very manly
