I'm a little upset with myself. I purchased a glass diffuser and I was a little rough with it and it cracked on me. There were no small pieces, it was a clean break. What's the best way to fix it, if possible? Would sillicon be an option? It wasn't very expensive, but it took a few weeks to get it off of E-bay.

Thanks

We've ALL been there, especially when you first get one, unfortunately it takes a break to know just how fragile these things are if handled in the wrong way.

I feel your pain, but think its a case of getting a new one, the pressure inside will quickly break any sort of silicone glue.

You're not the first, and won't be the last!

I'm not sure if silicon etc. would be able to seal the CO2 gas pressure.

Personally I'd buy a new one.

Oh well, back to E-bay. Thanks Sam and George. I'm going to see if I can find one locally.

Try aquaticmagic on ebay, they do a three pack of the mini ones and are very cheap :)

We probably do Dave, either we've both got to much time on our hands (or I guess dont work hard enough at work ;)) or we're both getting to obsessed with finding out where the best products can be got for the cheapest price. That and scheming of what we can do with our tanks

No doubt its a bit of all three!

I think I bought mine from Aquaticmagic also. It was a Spio 3. I should maybe get two and have a backup. Maybe this is a silly idea, but what if you sillicon the whole diffuser to give it some protection against breakage?

Yeh a spare is always useful. I wouldn't silicone the whole thing, it'll ruin the classy appearance and I doubt it'll make any difference. You just have to be careful!

 :shifty:

I'm glad (not glad that you broke your diffuser though) to see others brake their first diffusers too, mine lasted 5 mins  . When i was attaching it to the glass using the sucker, i pushed too hard and it snapped clean in half :look: .

Wouldn't superglue do the job? Once it's set it shouldn't affect the tank. Perhaps a 2 part epoxy would be even better for strength, it wouldn't look very nice though.

Superglue costs about £3 and aquarium sealent £4...why not just buy a new one.
