Well, something was wrong w/ my tank and i took it down.. so i'm trying out some feeder guppies to make sure my water is fine b4 i get all the fish i want.

there were all fine, and i saw one where it looked like the part right above the back fin was white looking and looked bent?!? Then, the next day a few more, and so on... They die after about a day.. What is this? :dunno:

Please help.. :(

have u tested the water ? if u dnt have a tester kit urself, ur lfs sud test the water for u 4 free. if not, mayb ask a friend if they have a tester kit.

u need to test for, ph, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite.

Well, since taking it down... i checked it and its
PH 7.0
AMMONIA 0
ONLY TESTERS I HAVE PERSONALLY

I Took my water to the LFS and she checked EVERYTHING..

she said it was PERFECT. and i should have no problem!
i'm going today to the LFS... and i have recently read that feeder guppies carry diseases often and so i'm gonna get one or two mollies or something and see how they do.. if they do fine, i'm gonna go next monday (only day off) and get some more.. gradually add them :)

but i just looked at my guppies, and one of them is turning white in the back.. he looks like he's paralyzed from the back of the front fins to the end of his body..
hes swimming w/ front fins fine, but sinking kinda?!? :sly:

are they starting to bend in half????
do you see and types of ulcers or bleeding of any kind?????
are they acting odd or seem stressed with any loss of appetite and heavy breathing?????
if your water is good but your fish are bending then try researching TB
i find its most common in guppies and platy.
it can have many different effects on fish but it is deadly (i have never heard of a case where they didn't have to euthanize)
and if it is, don't worry ;)
TB is not very contageous unless the healthy fish are eating the ill fish poop or the rotting corpse of a dead fish
remove the sick fish from your tank and just make sure that the new fish are geting a well rounded diet

don't get me wrong it could be something else but i have in the past had 2 platy that started to bend and eventually died.
i beleive it was either TB or a deformity

sorry, hahahaha
i'm long winded today
