I'm thinking of getting one for my planted tank as the leaves on my java fern get very dirty. I used to have a pitbull plec but he hid ll the time and rarely came out.

Can BN's be kept happily on their own or are more than one needed? Are they good cleaners of plant leaves?

yeh they r good cleaners but they come with a con the more they eat the more the defecate, the more they defecate the more algae is produced its a horrible cycle :(

any way

size :4-6" (full albino dont get very large dnt know why but ive never had one grow larger the 4.5"long)

diet: mainly vegy but blood worm should be included for a healthy diet as they are omnivorous not a herbivore

colours: albino, semi-albino, calico (what people call super red), brown/black

min tank size: personally id say 80L min

number bn in one tank: should idealy be 1 pair so male and a female (this also goes on size of tank)

territorial: yes and can be aggressive against other bottom dwellers

hiding spots: yes they like plenty of hiding spots in the tank

substrate: they prefer sand as they can sift it through their gills eating the small parts of food in side the sand)

how to tell genders: males have long bristles while femals may have small or no bristles

anything else i hope i helped :)

if your plant leaves are getting 'dirty', you might be able to eliminate the issue with increased water movement in your tank. Either a higher rated filter or an extra powerhead would be options.
