Question on colouration is the yellow bristlenose ive seen a male albino? Or is it a species in its own right?

A male albino what?

Bristlenose plecs are a different species to commons if that's what you're asking. But there are several species marketed as bristlenoses in their own right.

Males have bristles while females either don't or have fewer bristles depending on the specific species.

The 'yellow' bristlenose might be a color morph of one of the more common bristlenose species or another species - but without the scientific name you can't be sure as fish shops often just generalise with the names.

Yellow bristlenoses can be either the albino form (pale yellow) or the lutino form (golden yellow) of a common species. These have red or yellow eyes.

There is also a naturally yellow species, L144 which has striking blue-black eyes.

Take a look HERE - The Lxxx or LDAxx codes are short hand for the different species of plecs.

As for the are they common question - the albinos are quite normal to fine in lfs - followed by the goldens. - i've never seen the blue eyed golden ones though.
