Hiya, I have the following pictures to help!

As the titles mentions he has been loosing weight recently and refusing to eat, algae wafers/courgete, the tank is also full of yummy algae.
I did recently loose also a Tetra and Corydora also very skinny and underweight, the tetra developed mouth fungus before death.
My guess originaly was Internal bacteria infection so I have done a course of treatment on that but to no avail.

Catfish is about 6 years old at a guess, so dont want to loose him for sure.

any other ideas? could it possibly be internal parasistes? All other fish appear healthy at the time.

His poo is not normal and his anus is a white/pale colour which to me looks like an internal infection, Maybe a second course?

all stats are 0ppm Nitrate I didnt check but do weekly water changes

Did the fish lose weight before they stopped eating.

Signs of internal parasites are.
Long stringy white poo, clear mucas poo, or red poo.
Enlarged anus, red inflamed anus.
Sunken in belly.
Bent spine sometimes.
Fish will look skinny or bloated.
Fish will sometimes swim on it's side.
Spitting food out, or not eating.
Sometimes the fish will flick and rub.
Worms prutruding from the anus.

What bacterial med did you use?

Interpet - Anti internal bacteria

I think you could be very correct then with internal parasites... as with the attached pictures.. his stomach is sunken, but I believed due to lack of food..
before my tetra died it would grab food then spit it back out, maybe the fungus was due to stress?

EDIT: I believed the supplied pictures to be his end product, but is it possible that is a parasite?

I really need a front view in the pics. it's hard to tell in the pics.

Sunken in belly can also be bacterial.

All I can really suggest is using a internal wormer in the main tank.

There wormer plus or this med.

what do you mean by front view? I'll try to get what you want!

that picture his poo is totally clear (assuming thats what it is)

Sorry meant side view.

Clear mucas poo can mean the fish is running on empty and not eating, internal parasites, bacterial.

All I can really suggest is worming your fish for internal parasites.
Anti internal bacteria med not that good in my opinion.

Thanka I'll pop to the shops, as I think im getting desperate now.
his anus does look slightly enlarged, just worried about treating now as I just changed water after previous treatment.
I think doing another one tomorrow then treating show be okay

and thanks for all the help, your fingers must hurt helping everyone here today :fun:

Major respect to you :)

Ok.
Enlarged anus can be due to internal parasites, dropsy.

You can only buy the sera med online I think.
I had plec's years ago and they have camallanous worms.

Yes I am busy, Havent been on here for over a week due to being away.

I assume this is the best, ones at the store by Tetra/Interpet will be less effective?

Most stores don't sell internal wormers.
That's why you have to buy them online.
Lfs bought bacterial meds are only good on mild bacteria infections.

Hiya just thought I'd update,
on my first first full day of hthe dosing, will 80% tomorrow at 6pm

within 24hours I have lost 1 gourami who was healthy and another is half dead, notices after retuning from work
I have quickly got another tank setup and moved my remaining 2 and he seems to recover quickly so far looks okay now.

My catfish still wont eat and still looks skinny hope this is whats wrong with him else my gourami died for no reason!!
but I do have my doubt :(

I dont know if this reacts bad with gouramis just a warning

EDIT: once Penguin tetra seems to be hiding behind the outflow of the filter where all others are active! exactly what my other tetra did before getting thin and died

Have you tried blanched courgette/zucchini? They are supposed to adore it.

Any chance any bogwood in the tank has lost its essential nutients needed by BN plecs?

yeah, I tried courgette, he used to eat it all loved the stuff same as cucumber but now wont touch the stuff! or anything for that matter

I have Alot of wood inside my tank, Planted tank
Will see how it goes now, tank is currently being drained for the water change, I read 8 days I should notice a different!

The gourami that almost died is pooping out white blotchy poo so I'll try another med on him isolated

EDIT: whilst doing water change I have noticed what I think is red fish poop.. :/ (not blood for sure) And I have not given blood worm (which this looks like)

Maybe a hit on the head here ( could these be it )

I'd just like to bump this somewhat

I have seen his first bit of poop action since the medicine so I assume he has eaten but sadly it's not what I'd like to have seen!

Not a healthy looking poop, is it possible it could be like that whilst his body ejects possibly worms/start getting food again?
Also my gourami is seriously not correct, Just will lay on the substrate on it's side then goes upright again, when it feels the need to move its fine as anything! just seems weak

this is since the Sera nematol, any ideas?

Hiya,

I'm updating this...

I have now lost two gouramis from using sera nemtaol, the 3rd is now isolated.... using it seems to make them produce Alot of slime coat and caused them to suffocate :(

the treatment having been completed catfish is now pooping.. but not eating from what I see..

his poop still looks terrible

Should I treat again with Sera nematol? as it seems to make a difference I think.. (this time I'll isolate him)
or isolate and try anti internal?

help anyone.. I just want my tank back to normal.. doing plants cleaning and catfish being.. Catfish :)
