well i guess there must be something in my water lol..as my community tanks are going crazy..

i added 2 female bristlenoses to my male morris's 96 litre tank on the 19th sept ..by the 20th he got jiggy with a female and had gone under a rock ..not realising things would happen so quick i was told to look for eggs from a friend ,
so on 23rd sept i shone a torch and low and behold hes fanning a big clutch of orange eggs..
4th october and babies start appearing ..

i removed 1 female on the 12th oct and put her in boris bn's 200 litre tank they get jiggy that day ..by 16th oct boris is sitting and fanning a clutch of eggs inside a tree root ..

at the same time morris is also fanning a 2nd batch of eggs in the 96 litre tank ..

20th oct and babies spotted in both tanks ..

so now ive got over 100 plus bn fry in 96 litre tank and estimate 30-60 bn fry in 200 litre ..

how often will these spawn ?

im feeding them on courgette, cucumber, lettuce and potatoe slices ,algae tabs daily changing them and theyre doing great 1st batch are 2cm big ..

ive got plenty of air flow and good filters so hopefully no probs and ive got a grow on tank running but to fast to catch them at present..

what age should i try removing them from community tank

what age are they ok to sell on

(my lfs says they will have them all when theyre 1 inch )..but how old does it take for them to get that big ? .....

and is it harmeful to remove them forsale so young ?

thanks xx kaz x

Hi ya kaz,
Congratulations on your spawns
Sounds like your busy lol
If you keep up with the water changes the babies will be ok until they are big enough to go.
Once they start fattening up they will grow quite quick.
I find they do well with the parents unless you have other fish that will eat your babies.

I have also moved dad and cave into a differnet tank once he has spawned (while they are still eggs) this helps when the little buggers are out and about its a nightmare to catch them lol

You got some super reds, they are awesome colour.
One of my males has started to get his bristles.

thanks for reply xx nothing in tanks has really bothered with fry so hoping all will go well will keep up with the frequent water changes ...

yep my super reds are coming very soon 6 of them infact soo chuffed ..

glad your guys getting his bristles ive read somewhere the more bristles can mean a stronger breeder unsure how true it is ..but makes sense with my morris ..

just played around with tanks so 1 very algae fide for when they arrive and 1 looking good and cultivating more algae for them eventually ..

with 8 tanks running now definatly got my hands full lol

I had a trio that spawned regularly. Between the 2 females the male was busy with a new clutch soon after the previous round of fry had left the cave. As the females grow larger so do the clutch sizes.

Depending on how much/often the fry eat, but they should reach 1" in about 5-6 weeks. That's the minimum size for moving them to another tank, the larger they are the better they seem to tolerate different conditions.
