Well i brought them as sea monkeys before i ever kept fish.

So therefore i haven't really raised proper brineshrimp from eggs.

EDIT: but i do feed frozen brineshrimp ;)

I've never bothered hatching them, but I buy portions of live adult brine shrimp from the LFS every week to feed the Dwarf Puffers, the Figure-Eight Puffer and the Bumblebee and Violet gobies.

I also use frozen.

All the other smaller fish love them too.

Buying Brineshrimp eggs as Sea Monkey's is a total rip off. Glorified packaging and hardly any eggs. Someone has hit on a get rich quick scheme.

Hi SirMinion,
(Off Topic) Wots with the puffer explosion on the forum. Their popularity seems absolutely massive at the moment.

:kana: i have never used them mainly because i am not sure how and have never felt i needed to.

That's due to a recent increase in availability and peoples' interest in something out of the ordinary.
Puffers are fantastic fish and are a genuine challenge to keep healthy in an aquarium.

My brother started that off he is really into those little leopard puffers they're cool i admit but i agree everybody has gone obsessed lol

Are Brine shrimp really salty and if I buy a bag of them alive how do I feed them to my fish?

Pour them into a fine mesh net and rinse them under the tap. Then swill them in your tank/s.

Best to rinse them in water taken from the tank or at least in conditioned tapwater, otherwise you'll be making chlorine flavoured shrimp.

I take your point SirMinion, but I cannot see them being loaded with chlorine given the timescale that they are being held under the tap. Never bothered my charges.

Fair enough, but I like to be as careful as I can. :D

I use them for angel fry, they get bbs the first 6 weeks or so. As I'm currently growing out some larger angels the hatchery is shut down. Next time I pull a spawn, I'll start hatching them again on a daily basis.
