if you buy live brine shrimp from the lfs and keep them in the fridge they only last a few days. i do know of people thought that have a brine shrimp tank attached to aerator and they keep them alive in there for a bit longer

I have always just bought the frozen baby brine shrimp. They're just as nutritious and a lot easier to deal with. Unless someone can give me a good reason to take the trouble of hatching brine shrimp I dont think it's worth it at this point... Throw pinky nail sized piece in a shotglass and put water in it and you have baby brine shrimp.. It can't get too much easier than that!

Why not culture some of your own. You can make a DIY hatcher by drilling a hole for some tube to go through the bottom corner of the 2l plastic bottle or bigger just smaller than some silicone tubing for a tight fit, the same sized hole in the cap, cutting the bottle in half, then feed the silicone tube firstly through the bottom of the bottle, then through the cap. Silicone up the cap up and you are done. no airstone can be used as it will kill em.. for some reason. Now buy some live brine shrimp eggs and make a salty water sollution, (check on websites for the salinity requirements) then connect the tube to an air pump, not too high, but not too low, add your water, add ur shrimp then leave it on the window ledge for 24-48 hours. Serves 2000, the adults love it too. Feed ur shrimp to ur fish as soon as they hatch as they are the most nutritional when they are first born. To feed them, shut down the air pump and make sure u got a non return valve so water dont leak out, then cover the hatcher up for 20 mins so all the shrimp fall to the ground, then remove the non-return valve, and the shrimp will come out of the tube, then transfer the shrimp to ur tank . Job done ;)
