I dont really want to set up a fancy brine shrimp hatchery but i do have an isolation net and a tropical fish tank i could hang it from that has a pretty ok powered waterfall filter. if i was to get some eggs and put them in there with a little salt would they hatch?

No, you would end up with salt & unhatched bbs in the tank.

You dont need a fancy hatchery. I just use a 2l pop bottle and a strong air pump.
It will last 2-3 days and feeds a dozen tanks easily.

As long as you have an air pump you can build a hatchery from junk around the house. I've been using 2 liter bottles for years, when they get too dirty just drink another bottle of pop.

Just get all the fixings, it takes 5 minutes to set up and then forget for 24 hours. I even have a jug of pre-mixed 'shrimp water' sitting around so I can just dump some, dump some eggs in and plug the pump in.

My only advice is that unless you have a huge batch of fry don't pour the whole vial in like it tells you to... I only use a few pinches at a time and even that produces about 2 days worth of BBS for my endler fry.

that sounds pretty easy. i just have to get a darn air pump now i guess

thanks all:)

will they eat those triassic triops things instead of sea monkeys?

They will eat triops...but it's a very expensive/difficulty way of doing things. Triops are harder to hatch than brine shrimp, and you get a much lower hatch rate. Triops eggs are also much more expensive.

If you want a freshwater equivalent, people sell fairy shrimp eggs on ebay.

But it's much easier and cheaper just to use brine shrimp.
