my dad just hatched brine shrimp eggs he found in the bay. he has been feeding them blood meal but isn't sure if they are eating it or if it is the right thing. they are only a couple days old, are they already at maximum size? because the idea is to get them as big as possible to feed to the gobies since we have them hooked on a live food diet and we aren't supposed to breed mosquitos because of west nile virus in our area.

anyone have any ideas or knowledge about brine shrimp? thanks!

I'm not sure if raising brine shrimp is a good idea - they are not very nutritious, especially compare to just hatched brine shrimps. BBS looses its nutiritious value literally in hours, so it is best to feed them to fishes as they hatch.

I would continue to feed hatched ones and raise some other live food - perhaps one of the worms.

I feed my bumblebee goby newly hatched baby brine shrimp, as these are more nutricious and I don't have brine shrimp food so they don't last more than a couple of days for me...

Surprizingly, most adult fishes will eat BBS even though they are very small. I noticed my 3 inch mbuna are having heck of a time trying to feed on those - these are the first species I experienced that are unable to consume BBS. Of course, 1 inch mbuna fries eat them very well! ;)
