Just used my NT Labs brine shrimp hatcher for the first time. Is it OK to pour the small amount of salt water directly into the tropical tank. I gather folk use salt for medication so I'm not thinking it will be a problem?????

i usually use a pipette, and then squirt it out onto the net so it catches the shrimp but not any water. but i suppose that its okay if you pour just a little salt water in there, just make sure that you dont pour it on any fish :good:

Thanks. When I used a fine strainer before with a previous hatcher the shrimp became caught in the mesh and I couldn't wash them into the tank. But I'll take your advice and try you method.

If you dont have a BS net to hand...drape a cotton handkerchief over a jam-jar
Turn off the air supply to your hatching vessel and let the Artemia congregate towards a light source,
Then using a pipette suck some up and squirt it onto the cloth then take a few pipettes full of freshwater and rinse the Artemia well
All's left to do is to swill the cloth into your desired tank.
