Breeding

Depends on the fish. Sharks are 'pregnant' for longer than humans. Wrestling halfbeaks can produce broods in as little as 3 weeks. The main thing is that (assuming we're talking about one of the common livebearers) you don't stress the female in any way. God forbid you try and lift her out the tank with a net! Also get hold of some hornwort or some other floating plant. This will give the fry cover once they're born, leaving you a few days to spot them and remove them to your breeding tank.

Cheers,

Neale
