My new guppy fry keep escaping from my breeding trap, I am just wondering if anybody else has has the same problem, it only ever happens either when i'm feeding them or doing a wtaer change, i saw 1 tonight come out of the bottom of the trap so i am asuming this is how they keep gettin out. When i bought my 2 female guppies i didn't know they were pregnant and since i saw the first fry i have been trying my hardest to save them. If anyone knows what i can do to stop the from coming through the bottom i would be very grateful as my 2 swordtails are pregnant and i want thier fry to survive to :D

Thankyou

Claire

Hi Claire, depends which type of trap you have, I have one that is hopeless, they escape out of the bottom, I found a "footsie" you know the type of sock that women wear like a footlet / half pop sock nylon kinda thing ... when you are wearing shoes with no tights ???? it worked over the bottom a treat !!!!!!!!!!!!! Depends what type of trap you have .... Im am Newb so probably will be wrong .. Possibly someone else can offer better advise

Also try getting a better trap ..
Becks.

I will give that a try :D thankyou sooo much...i'm new to Tropical and livebearers so thankyou again :D

Not a prob I have various traps and some are better than others, the largest one that i have and prefer though is the one that they can get out of the bottom of, The "footsie is brill cos it is elasticated and just the right size ..
The others i have though they dont escape from so it is personal preferance
Becks. x.x.

i had that problem with plastic ones, and with other fish 'pulling' them through and eating them, so i brought a net one but just use the net around the plastic one if they keep escaping otherwise i leave them be.

Thankyou guys, my fry have now stopped escaping and i have a red breeding box. Twas the only color i had lol Fry are doin nicely and the other fish aren't bothering them as much :good:

Cheers

Claire
