whenever I try to breed my fish (tetras) most of the time the eggs get cover with fungus. should the water be fresh from the tap and/or cycled or water from the community tank which works better.

Water from teh community is best provided it is kept clean. THe key to keeping the eggs from getting fungus is circulation.

yes my community water is good quality all my fish are very happy but whats a good way to circulate the water a filter or bubbler I have a little sponge filter in it is that good enough?

A few drops of methylene blue can help stop eggs fungusing and it degrades before they eggs hatch, so it won't affect fry.

I should point out that most tetra eggs are light sensitive as well, so that may be part of it, if you're not keeping them dark enough.

yes after I took the parent fish out when they were done spawning I forgot to turn the light off and left the house

lol, oh dear, well that won't have helped!

yup and I was just clearing out all the fungus cover eggs and discovered one survivor so far lol

Oh well, that's a start! One free fish is not to be sniffed at ;)

They were black skirts tetras but next ones im going to try is the lamp eyes or cory cats both of the females are looking plump and ready
