Breeding Tank

I currently have a 65 Ltr Aqua One Tropical Tank setup. This is my first tank and i have it setup to give my fish an ideal level of comfort and hopefully a stress free environment.

I spoke with my LFS and they are happy to take any fish once they reach a certain size if they breed in return for store credit. This has me thinking.

If they indeed are willing to give me store credit i would be willing to breed my fish and if successful should be able to build up over time enough credit to help fund a new larger tank.

Now then, i want to get myself prepared in the event that any of my fish should start to breed, so i am hoping to setup a breeding tank and this is my plan.

I am happy with my current tank and they have a similiar make and model that comes complete with all the needed accesories to get another tank setup only its a smaller tank and will fit wonderfully next to my current one.

I have a male and female Dwarf Gourami and would like to see if they will breed for me so thought about putting them in their own tank and creating the right environment to allow them to get down to business.

Can anyone with experience explain to me the best possible process i should follow in order to successfully breed my Gouramis and what other equipment i may need. although i am not ready at this present time to start breeding, i want to have everything i need setup and ready to go for when i am.

Gourami's build bubble nests as far as i know, so you dont want a filter with too much flow. I think to trigger spawning you should lower the water level quite a bit and slowly raise the temperature a couple of degrees over a few days.
You'll need two tanks i think, i have two gourami's and they eat everything going. I imagine they'd eat fry but i don't know that for sure. But i suspect you need a fry tank and an adult tank.

I was in the LFS this morning and got talking to a gentleman who said that the best way to breed Gouramis is to separate the female and feed her up before adding her back with the male. Can anyone substantiate that ?

Hi Axleuk, I don't know anything about breeding Gouramis but do know that they eat there fry and any other fish fry. As for the tank i thought pink would look better.
