hi people some help would be much appreciated.

i have 2 male swordtails and 4 females.
2 females are looking rather large but im not sure if they are pregnant or not, as they havent gestated yet...i have the females in a floating breeding tank.
cud they just be pretty fat?
as in larger than normal?

there both orange in colour, and their black by their tales so its hard to see if they have a gravid spot...
how do i tell appart from this???

Can u post any pictures of them?

Dont leave them in the trap for any longer than 48 hours cos u will just stress them out and it may cause death..

Gravid spots are not the best thing to go by.

i have a 2 in 1 breeding/fry trap tank...i have placed my 2 swordtails in here....but they keep jumping out lol
however when they are first placed in there the 2 males stay sitting next to them in the tank until they manage to jump out.

i can do pictures on here of my breeding tank aswell if needed.

what do you think? pregnant fish or not?

She is most definitely pregnant if she has been with males for any length of time at all. Having said that, she does not look to be terribly close to dropping in my opinion...likely another 7-10 days at the least.

the one in the top trap looks further on than the bottom one, the bottom one is not even at the 2 week mark in my opinion, but the other one is around the 2 -2 1/2 week mark.

lol, I thought it was the same fish. So much for paying attention...

ps, REMOVE them from the trap cos they aint going to drop yet.

SWEET! i will remove them right away.
how long ruffly will it be b4 she drops do you think?

these 2 females have been with 2 other females, and 2 males for a couple of months now so... :D
cnt wait for the fry :D
cheers guys. :)
you see what i mean about the black colouration buy their tails which covers their gravid spot lol

so just a last note....they are DEFFO pregnant and not just...i dunno bloated or big boned lol.
