Breeding Swordtails

I have two females and one male swordtail and i was wondering how long must the males tail be to breed with the female. Also how big of a tank should i have for them? i have a 10gallon now is that good enough?

The male's tail actually has nothing to do with it. They breed using their gonopodium, which is a modified anal fin.

10g is going to be a bit small for them, as they get pretty big anyway, but males with their tails are going to be squished. I'd go for 20g or more.
